Who’s to Blame?
Jamie McIntyre became rich because he committed to wealth creation and learned to develop the mindset of a millionaire. Had he not done so, Jamie never would have become rich and certainly never would have been able to create 21st Century Academy.
Part of developing the mindset of a millionaire required Jamie to take a hard look at himself and be honest about why he failed at wealth creation in all his previous endeavors (including the profitable ones). What Jamie found is that the things that caused his financial failure were by no means exclusive to him.
96% of People Are Not Responsible For Their Own Financial Failure
What Jamie McIntyre learned was that at age 65 (which we would hope to be retirement age), 96% of people are either dead, flat broke, or relying on others financially. And if you talk with those 96 percenters (another term we’re borrowing from 21st Century Academy), none of them are to blame for their financial predicament.
This brings to light one of the elemental reasons why people fail at wealth creation—blame and excuses.
The Wealthy Have No Excuses
The wealthy do not waste a lot of time placing blame and searching for excuses for their failures. The greatest majority of people, though—those living in the 96 percent that are utterly failing financially—do.
The 96 percent that are failing have gotten very good at pointing the finger of blame. They can blame
• Companies or employers that do not pay them
• Employers for underpaying them
• Parents for not being born into riches
• Friends and relatives for borrowing money
• The world for the high cost of living
These 96% are also very good at creating excuses.
• They don’t have the free time to invest in a wealth creation education
• They have no free money to save or invest in getting a worthwhile wealth creation education
• They are owed money by others
• Their debt loads are too high
• The bank will not work with them
• They just can’t find their career niche
• They don’t need money to live happily
Dwelling In The Blame
Now, a handful of these things may even be true, but allowing yourself to dwell in blame and excuses takes all the power away from you and puts your financial future only in the hands of others. In order to change the tide in your favor, you need to stop letting blame and excuses rule your financial house and take control.
Today, that starts by recognizing the blame and excuses you are creating and putting an end to them. Today, you decide that the only person who will paint your financial picture is you.
