Blame and excuses; that is one of the two reasons why people fail at achieving financial freedom. The other reason? Denial.
Living In Financial Denial
One of the things that Jamie McIntyre tries to teach through his 21st Century Academy courses is the reasons why people fail at creating financial wealth. This is very important because unless you can understand why you are failing, you can’t focus your efforts at financial improvement in a direction that is effective and productive. You have to be able to identify a problem before you can find a solution to it.
21st Century Academy teaches that Denial, as it applies to wealth creation, refers to the attitude that one doesn’t need or want money. This might sound ludicrous, but think about what people say about being rich (that is, people who are not rich). Do any of these things sound familiar?
• “I don’t need money; I’m happy living the way I am.” (except that I am stressed all the time and worried about paying bills, meeting my obligations to debtors…)
• “I am not interested in money; there is more to life than money.”
• “Money isn’t everything.” (and it’s not, but having money makes it possible to do more for others, live freer, enjoy life more)
• “There are more important things in life than money.”
Money and Financial Freedom
The paradox is that even though most people make these claims, they are on a constant quest for money and financial freedom. They wake up five days a week or more, spend the majority of the day away from their family, loved ones, and the things that really are more important than money, and go out to work for more money. And they are miserable. They are in no way enjoying life, despite the fact that they’ve convinced themselves that money doesn’t matter in their lives.
Facing attitudes of financial denial is just one of the many life-altering lessons Jamie McIntyre and the 21st Century Academy present. Difficult as this may be to admit, correcting the problem is a key to gaining financial freedom.
