What is a Shareholder Agreement?

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Whether you plan to build wealth through renting shares for monthly cash flow or you are exploring your moneymaking options, understanding a shareholder agreement can help. Investments can be risky but when you work with a company in good faith and with focused vision, you are more likely to succeed. Part of the success relies in your deep-rooted belief in the companies you are dealing with.

Shareholder Agreements

Shareholder agreements typically involve small corporations that hire shareholders in management positions. The managing positions exist without conflict of interest. No “self-dealing” against the managing shareholder is permitted. This type of agreement is usually put into place when there are only a handful of shareholders.

The agreements are legal documents that usually contain the following information for shareholders:

* The company’s structure
* Shareholder duties
* Shareholder rights
* Explanation of different classes of shareholders
* Conditions in which it is legal to sell shares
* How many shareholders must be present for resolutions to be passed
* Methods of arbitrations in the event of a disagreement
* Shareholder voting rights

In addition to information for shareholders, the document should also outline information specific to stakeholders and directors of the company as well.

* Rights of directors, management and employees
* Duties of directors, management and employees
* Options for selling and buying shares
* Guidelines for handling death or retirement of a director or stakeholder
* Duties of the Board of Directors
* Identifies Board of Directors members and their roles in the company
* Guidelines for changes in the Board of directors
* Exit clause for shareholders

Doing business with a company can be intimidating but with the right information available to you, many opportunities for building wealth are available. Shareholder agreements are ideal for creating a reliable relationship with the corporations in which you choose to invest.

Do You Have Financial Goals?

Friday, December 21st, 2007

Jamie McIntyre is really such a wealth of information that’s it’s tough to talk in summary. On the other hand, breaking down the advice, philosophies, and methods Jamie McIntyre presents through his 21st Century Academy on a blog is helpful because it gives us the chance to chew on things a bit and digest the information he’s put before us.

Maybe you remember a few weeks back when I was talking about becoming a full-time investor and the 5 levels of financial freedom that we all experience at some point in our lives (or at least, hope to experience; your chances of actually getting there will be much greater if you take advantage of what Jamie and the 21st Century Academy is offering).

5 Levels of Financial Freedom

The 5 Levels of Financial Freedom are something that is presented by Jamie in as part of an exercise for setting goals. The purpose of knowing them is for you to rate them, so that you can set financial goals reasonably. Why is this important? Because everyone’s perception of financial success is different. I cannot tell you when you will be successful financially speaking. It’s not up to me to say how much money you have to make before you can call yourself a success. That’s entirely personal, and it’s entirely up to you.

I’m going to set some time aside in the next post or two or three to talk about setting financial goals and about defining financial success. For now, I want you to think about how important it is that you do that, and start just brainstorming – dreaming, really – about what would make you feel happy; what level of financial success would make you feel like you’ve arrived and achieved financial freedom.

Financial Freedom Goals

Setting goals for financial freedom and financial success is one of the first steps in making money. You’ll find the guidance of Jamie McIntyre and the 21st Century Academy to be very useful for lending focus to your financial goals. That’s a great place for you to start, but you really need to think about using the 21st Century Academy for more—as your training resource for learning to invest and enjoying financial freedom.

5 Financial Steps For The Full Time Investor

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

One of my first dreams that I “Acquired” from the 21st Century Academy was this: I want to become a Full Time Investor. It was in early 2004 and I had just picked up the Free 3 Hour DVD with Jamie McIntyre. I was in dire straits, financially and was seeking Financial Security. I soon learned the different levels of Financial Protection that we all crave at some level in our lives.

The 5 Levels To Financial Freedom

  • Financial Protection
  • Financial Security
  • Financial Independance
  • Financial Freedom
  • Absolute Financial Freedom

I set these as goals in January 2004 while doing the Jamie McIntyre homestudy program. I was focused on becoming a full time investor and wanted to know how to make money (like lots) and learn to invest. I soon realized that the focus needed to be elsewhere. You can read more about mindset etc in my Success Communicator Blog.

Become a Full Time Investor In Your Mind

To ever become a Full Time Investor in real life, you need to first be one in your mind. All things originate from a thought so build that though, starting now! First tell yourself you are one and start working towards it. All goals we set don’t always come true but hey… Aim for the Moon. If you miss, you’ll still land among the stars.

I quit my job as an electrician and became a Full Time Investor in 2005. You can read my testimonial that I wrote that memorable day in December 2005 on my I Fired My Boss Page.

Until next time…
